Sonar was formed in 2004. Their soundtrack-like "progressive instrumental pop" music is massive and impulsive, vibrating and tense at once. Like an instrumental audio stream, Their music contains digital noise, live instruments which are pushing the boundaries of music.
Their music style has many roots. The band was influenced by both experimental electronics and melodic space rock, hip-hop and dub. Sonar is a continuous search between downtempo rock music and vivid electronics.
Their music style is also described by powerful vibes, tight rhythms, guitars, beautifully orchestrated noise characteristics. Live gigs are supported by unique visual experience.
Sonar was among the first of those, who had live online concerts, so the band's live performances could be followed from distant parts of the world:

Their second album (Deltroid) was distributed on a guerrilla basis. The copies were smuggled into department stores on the International Day of No Shopping:

Meanwhile, the new album ‘On Air’ was released by DDK Records, See at Discography
’This is certainly underground above the clouds!’
It was the first music band in Hungary who gave 360° degree performance, which was recorded by a special camera. Check the link below:

And here is the interactive version, which can be controlled by the mouse!:
Sonar had the opportunity to cooperate with musicians like: world famous violinist Zoltan Lantos or Kárpáti Dodi (Quimby) on trumpet. After this the 4 membered group became a real matured live band. Now the show is complex with the projected visuals and animations related to the songs.
After two singles the band's first LP (Celluloid) was released. The video from the most surreal song of the album won an animation video award. It was directed by Ákos Badits:

In 2012, the band's unique sound atmosphere became cleaner. Their second studio album (On Air) with more complex songs and even more powerful dynamics was released in May 2012.
Comparing to the first LP (the songs were coherently connected to each other) the songs of ’On Air’ are separated, but still keeping the storyteller character, and maintaining continuous attention.
In 2013, after ‘On Air’, it’s remix version was released (AIRMX), in a very special form. This innovation was, that the songs were free to download from walled USB sticks in Budapest city center, which could be found with the help of previously published GPS coordinates.
